          TRY BEING BOLD SOMETIMES & SAY SOMETHING YOU WOULD NEVER THINK TO HEAR FROM A TELEMARKETER WHILE STILL BEING PROFESSIONAL

Always start your rebuttal with "No problem, I understand..." then give a compliment like "you are very smart to think that way and I agree with you..." then proceed with your rebuttal that you think would best address the objection and try to end with a question to put the ball in customer's court.

*TIP: After saying a rebuttal, ask a qualifying question. It creates a conversation AND gets you important information for making the lead qualified for solar.

This is a courtesy call because your home comes up to possibly qualify you for the new California Electric Program. 

And if you qualify, you can use this to eliminate your current electric bill

However much your bill is, it's about to go up, right? 


The public utility commission has just posted a 10-25% increase that they will be rolling out in the next month. 

So the state of California is forcing all the big utility companies to start offering options to homeowners whose bills are high. 

They put millions in the bank, and this money is supposed to get allocated to you and your neighbors to help you go green.

GET THE LEAD: 

So what we are doing here at (Company Name) is contacting homeowners in your area, and offering you a completely free — solar analysis. 

We send a state certified solar specialist.

They come out, check out the roof, the shading issues, the amount of sun you get, and basically sees whether solar is even suitable for you or your home. 

If it is suitable, he'll let you know all the programs you are entitled to. 

No obligation, all free. 

It's really just an information visit for you to let you know what your options are that you have available. 

We are working with homeowners who are interested in seeing what their options are. 

The analysis takes an hour, to an hour in a half depending on the size of your home and the questions you may have.

The information they give you is a good for up to a year.

So the reason I am calling is because we have some specialists in your area today, and throughout the following week.

This appointment usually takes about 90 minutes depending on your questions so give yourself enough time.

If you get your questions ready for the person coming over, that will speed up the analysis.

ANYTHING you want to know about solar - they know, so ask LOTS of questions.

You will get a dispatch call a few hours prior to your appointment to let you know who is coming out and reconfirm with you.

They NEVER send anyone out without speaking to someone first, so do you have an alternate number for dispatch to reach you at? Cell phone would be best to make sure we can reach you for the appointment.

Why do both of us have to be home?

    • Married homeowners qualify for programs with more money 
      by having your spouse available it maximizes the funding you 
      will receive.

    • Joint title holders qualify for programs with more money. 
      Having all title holders present maximizes the money you will 
      receive onto your property. Also — you will qualify for the 
      optimal amount with both homeowners present...but we can 
      work around your schedule — we work up until 7 every night 
      except Friday and all day on Sunday to accommodate busy 
      spouses. Does this Sunday work for you?

I hate the way solar panels look — (I don't like solar)

  • I totally hear you. You are thinking about the 80's models of solar panels. There are over 300 kinds of panels — They're much smaller and can get put many places not just roofs anymore. There are ground mounts and pole mounts as well as reverse tilt mounts.

  • No problem, my spouse thinks the same thing. Either way, do you like how your electric bill looks?What about how saving and making money every month looks? What if instead of solar it was a pigeon sitting on your roof making you electricity? To me, looks aren't everything, purpose and functionality is. What do you think?

I need a new roof...

  • That's perfect. It's actually better to get a new roof with solar at the same time than to do one job then the other. The companies we send out have all the needed licenses to work with roofs, solar, and even energy efficient upgrades for your home. What time should I send them out to give you a proper analysis?

Why do you guys keep calling me?

 • This is the first time I personally called you. My call log shows you haven't been contacted in a long time by us and we know you are suffering. The electric companies are "turning up the heat on the warm water everyone is in and no one realizes it's BOILING" with all these recent rate increases. You haven't noticed that? (scientific fact: a frog that jumps in boiling water will jump out, but a frog sitting in warm water and the heat slowly turned up to boil will stay until they are cooked to death.)

 • Have you stopped to listen to the information about eliminating your electric bill?

 • You are in the Hot Solar Zone area, which means you can qualify for all sorts of money — we're trying to get that information for you — has anybody been able to tell you this?

 • We don't make these calls that often, that might be a similar sounding company, but the difference between those calls and this one is...you weren't talking to me.

 • What do you mean by that? (They most likely think that because they had an analysis before. Let them answer your question & expose their "weak spot")

Someone came out — It's too expensive.

 • Compared to what? The way to look at it is you are currently "in debt" to your electric company I would relate to as an "Adjustable Rate Mortgage" with no end date. I am trying to "refinance" your electric bill from "A.R.M. with no end date" to a "FIXed rate with an end date" if that makes sense...

 • Pull out your estimate when our technician comes out we'll commit to finding a company that can beat those numbers. We have more options than one solar company and we bring ALL the programs. Not everyone uses them all.

 • Things change all the time, there are probably more programs available to you now.

 • These programs have nothing to do with how much money you make or have — it's all about how much electricity you use. Trust me —if you use a lot of electricity you'll qualify.

 • I can, but it would be general information about how you possibly qualify not case specific to you or your home. It would basically be the same message I am giving you right now over the phone. The only difference is the time it would take to get the information to you. There is no time to lose with this...

 • At this point and stage we are in, that's not a problem. (We have helped people in reverse mortgages, bankrupt, credit scores in 500s, etc. There are programs case specific that help people like this)

  • Ok well are you JUST THINKING about selling the home or is it actually on the market already? (if they say "Yea, just thinking about it", say:)  Ok well talking about solar is just a thought as well, doesn't mean your going get it. We're just trying to see if it's in your best interest or even beneficial for you. Who knows, you might sell the house faster with it!

  • Unless it's already on the market, I know one way or another you will benefit from just having someone come out to give you some information. Worse case scenario, you learn more about your home that could be used as a great selling point, right?

  • To be honest with you I've heard that before and the homeowners just weren't looking at it from the specialist perspective. Sometimes all we need is a special angle or reverse tilt, better yet let me get a guy there to break it down for you...

  • ZERO sunlight? Either way, let's get an engineer's opinion. Technology may have caught up to work with your specific situation now.

(1)   You know ______ that is a valid point, if I had the right information to give you a quote over the phone. But unfortunately we are not in the business of miss leading homeowners to get in the door and I’m sure you can appreciate this. We design Solar systems that produce 100% offset so you never pay the utility company for your electricity again.  And at this point we do not even now if solar is an option for you, never the less will make any practical sense for you. So let me ask you this, If one of my consultants sat down with you and you saw in black and white, that the numbers made practical sense, obviously, at that point, you could make an informed decision right ! And on the flip side of the coin if the numbers didn’t make economical sense you wouldn’t have a problem with us shaking hands and parting as friends would you? That’s all I’m asking give me 1% of your trust and we’ll earn the other 99. FAIR ENOUGH!?

  • Do you know what the isolation of you roof is between 9am and 3pm, during the four seasons of the year? (the amount of electricity that can be generated from the sun)

  • Do you know what the pitch of your roof is and the optimal tilt for the panels?

  • Do you know the amount of space of your roof that can be utilized for solar is?

 

Well without this general information a quote at this point would be misleading. We would sound like a lot of other companies, saying one thing just to get in the door and then coming out there with something totally different.  Give us 1% of your trust, and we’ll earn the other 99!
